Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about PACU, our products, pricing, CE credits, and board prep programs.

General

PACU is a comprehensive pharmacy education platform designed for clinical pharmacists and pharmacy professionals. We offer curated literature reviews through PACULit, an extensive course library, board certification preparation through PACUPrep, and continuing education credits — all in one subscription-based platform.

PACU serves clinical pharmacists, pharmacy residents (PGY1 and PGY2), pharmacy students in their final year, and any pharmacy professional looking to stay current with the literature, earn CE credits, or pursue board certifications like BCPS, BCCCP, or BCEMP. Our content is especially strong in emergency medicine, critical care, and acute care pharmacy.

PACU currently offers five specialty tracks: Emergency Medicine & Critical Care (EM/CC), Internal Medicine, Oncology, Pediatrics, and Specialty Pharmacy. Each track delivers curated literature reviews, targeted courses, and specialty-specific resources. We are continually expanding our specialty offerings based on member feedback.

PACU combines three things most platforms offer separately: current literature awareness (PACULit), deep pharmacotherapy education (100+ courses), and board certification preparation (PACUPrep). Our literature reviews are written by practicing clinical pharmacists, include professional audio summaries for on-the-go learning, and directly tie into CE credit earning. The integrated approach means your daily learning contributes to both your clinical practice and your career advancement.

Yes. PACU’s continuing education activities are ACPE-accredited. CE credits earned through PACU are accepted in all 50 states for pharmacist license renewal. Each CE activity includes a unique ACPE Universal Activity Number (UAN) for easy reporting to your state board of pharmacy.

Absolutely. PACU is an excellent resource for pharmacy students, particularly those on APPEs or preparing for residency. The literature reviews build clinical knowledge, the courses reinforce pharmacotherapy concepts, and early exposure to board prep materials gives students a significant advantage. We also offer the MPJE Q-Bank for students preparing for state licensure exams.

Pricing

When you sign up for any PACU plan, you get full access to all features in that tier for 7 days at no cost. You will need to enter a payment method at signup, but no charges are made until the trial period ends. You can cancel anytime during the trial and you will not be billed.

Yes. All PACU subscriptions are cancel-anytime with no long-term contracts. If you cancel, you retain access through the end of your current billing period. Annual plans are non-refundable after 30 days but remain active for the full year.

We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) through our secure payment processor. Institutional customers may arrange invoicing and purchase orders by contacting our team.

Yes. We offer volume discounts for hospitals, health systems, pharmacy schools, and residency programs. Group plans include centralized billing, admin dashboards, and usage reporting. Contact us to discuss custom institutional pricing tailored to your organization’s needs.

The Premium (Certification) tier requires a one-time deposit of $119–$189, depending on your commitment length. This deposit secures your access to comprehensive board prep materials and is applied toward our pass guarantee. If you do not pass your board exam after completing all program requirements, you receive a full refund of the deposit.

CE Credits

PACULit subscribers can earn 3–5 CE hours per month through literature reviews. PACU Core and Premium subscribers can earn up to 10 CE hours monthly through a combination of courses and literature reviews. Over a year, that is up to 120 CE hours — more than enough to meet most state renewal requirements.

Yes. All PACU continuing education activities are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). Each activity has a unique Universal Activity Number (UAN) and meets the standards required for pharmacist license renewal nationwide.

After completing a CE-eligible activity (literature review or course), you will be prompted to complete a brief post-activity assessment. Once you pass the assessment, your CE credit is automatically reported to ACPE’s CPE Monitor system. Credits typically appear in your CPE Monitor account within 60 days. You can also track all earned credits on your PACU dashboard.

Yes. ACPE-accredited CE credits from PACU are accepted by all 50 state boards of pharmacy for pharmacist license renewal. Some states have specific CE topic requirements (e.g., law, patient safety, immunizations), so check your state’s requirements. PACU offers activities that may fulfill several of these specialty requirements.

Board Prep

PACU Premium includes preparation materials for three Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) certifications: BCPS (Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist), BCCCP (Board Certified Critical Care Pharmacist), and BCEMP (Board Certified Emergency Medicine Pharmacist). Each program includes a comprehensive question bank, study guides, and practice exams.

Our pass guarantee means that if you complete all program requirements (finish the study guide, complete a minimum number of Q-Bank questions, and take all practice exams) and do not pass your board certification exam, we will refund your deposit in full. You must provide documentation of your exam result and demonstrate completion of the program requirements to qualify.

PACUPrep is integrated into your broader PACU education experience rather than being an isolated study tool. You benefit from current literature reviews that reinforce clinical knowledge tested on boards, comprehensive pharmacotherapy courses that build foundational understanding, and dedicated board prep materials (Q-Banks, study guides, practice exams) all within one platform. Our performance tracking identifies your weak areas so you can study more efficiently.

Yes. Individual Q-Banks are available as standalone add-on purchases. BCEMP Q-Bank ranges from $189–$449, BCPS from $265–$375, and BCCCP from $275–$475. However, the PACU Premium subscription offers the best value since it bundles all Q-Banks with study guides, practice exams, performance analytics, and the pass guarantee.

The BCEMP FastTrack is an accelerated board preparation pathway designed for emergency medicine pharmacists who want a structured, time-efficient study plan. It includes a targeted study guide organized by exam blueprint, a comprehensive Q-Bank with detailed rationales, timed practice exams that simulate the real testing experience, and performance analytics that adapt your study focus. FastTrack is available as part of the PACU Premium subscription or as a standalone add-on.

Technical

Yes. The PACU platform is fully responsive and optimized for smartphones, tablets, and desktop browsers. You can read literature reviews, listen to audio summaries, take courses, and complete Q-Bank questions from any device. No app download is required — everything works in your mobile browser.

PDF study guides and select course materials are downloadable for offline use. Audio summaries can be streamed but are not currently available for download. Literature reviews and Q-Bank activities require an active internet connection to track progress and record CE credit completion.

After signing up, you can log in at pharmacyacute.com/login using the email address and password you created during registration. Your dashboard gives you access to all literature reviews, courses, Q-Bank activities, CE tracking, and account settings. If you have trouble logging in, use the password reset option or contact support.
