Introduction
\n
Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disorder primarily driven by the overexpression of interleukins IL-17A and IL-17F, key cytokines that contribute to the initiation and maintenance of psoriatic lesions. Current biologics targeting IL-17 pathways have substantially advanced treatment outcomes for moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis. Secukinumab, an IL-17A selective inhibitor, has shown efficacy, but dual inhibition of IL-17A and IL-17F by bimekizumab may offer enhanced skin clearance.

The BE RADIANT phase IIIb clinical trial represents a landmark investigation assessing not only the efficacy of bimekizumab over extended treatment but also exploring the clinical impact of switching from IL-17A inhibition (secukinumab) to dual IL-17A/F inhibition with bimekizumab. This long-term open-label extension provides critical evidence regarding sustained efficacy and safety through three years.
