Learning Objective

The objective of this module is to provide a comprehensive understanding of sepsis and septic shock. This includes:

  1. Pathogenesis: Understanding the multifactorial nature of sepsis, including patient predisposition, types of infecting organisms, and the role of the immune response in disease progression.
  2. Microorganisms and Resistance Patterns: Knowledge of the most common pathogens involved in sepsis and their resistance patterns is vital for effective antimicrobial therapy.
  3. Diagnostic and Therapeutic Challenges: Recognizing the challenges in diagnosing sepsis due to its nonspecific presentation and the importance of prompt and appropriate therapeutic interventions to improve outcomes.
  4. Sepsis Management: Incorporating recent research findings and advances into clinical practice to improve the management and outcomes of septic patients.
