Fibrinolytic agents, such as alteplase and tenecteplase, work by dissolving the clot and reestablishing blood flow. PCI, on the other hand, involves mechanically opening the blocked artery using a catheter-based procedure and is often considered the preferred reperfusion strategy when available.
